Eden Champagne

Dance/Movement Therapist

Eden Rose Champagne is a PhD student at the University of Waterloo in Aging, Health, and Well-being. Her research, funded by the SSHRC governmental scholarship, focuses on the benefits of dance/movement therapy for family caregivers and aging individuals living with neurodegenerative conditions (e.g. dementia). She has been practicing in the community as a dance/movement therapist for older adults since graduating from the alternate route Master's program at the National Center for Dance Therapy in Montreal in 2021. Eden also holds a Master’s degree in Psychology from York University, where her thesis investigated the benefits of dance for couples coping with Parkinson’s disease. Eden is a certified Dance for Parkinson's teacher and has been classically trained in many dance styles including ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary and modern dance. She is enjoys working with adults of all ages to connect through movement and create together. Her approach to dance therapy is relational, holistic, and research-driven. Eden believes that through moving with others, healing can emerge and new opportunities for creativity, growth, and connection are possible.
