About the Role

Miya Creative Care is looking for a part-time music therapist (approximately 7-15 hours/week) in Owen Sound to begin in October/November 2023.  This independent contractor will be working in long-term care with opportunities for growth.

Key Resposibilities

  • Develop, implement, coordinate, and evaluate music therapy programs in retirement homes, long term care, and/or disability services

  • Maintain an active clinical caseload providing assessment, treatment, documentation, and education

  • Maintain professionalism, including abiding by all PPE regulations

  • Attend monthly team meetings

Requirements

  • Certified Music Therapist (MTA) with the Canadian Association of Music Therapists (CAMT) in good standing or in progress

  • Experience and passion for working with older adults and in senior care settings

  • Meets the musical and clinical competencies recommended by the Canadian Association of Music Therapists

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Creative and adaptive clinical skills

  • Possess own instruments, including a guitar and a variety of rhythm instruments

  • Be independent, organized, and enthusiastic about working as part of a team

  • Must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccine
